📜 Divine History & Legend

According to legend, the sacred peepal tree here was planted by Vidura of the Mahabharata. It was also the site of a tragic event in 1938 when British police fired on freedom fighters, leading it to be called the 'Jallianwala Bagh of the South'. The annual Jatra honors Lord Vidurnarayana and features a bustling market on the banks of the Uttara Pinakini river.
