📜 Divine History & Legend

Initiated by Sri Madhvacharya in the 13th century and later reformed by Sri Vadiraja Teertha in the 16th century, the Paryaya festival marks the formal transfer of worship rights and administration. The incoming Swamiji is handed the Akshaya Patra and keys to the shrine, symbolizing the sacred trust to run the temple and feed thousands of devotees daily.

🔥 Sacred Rituals & Processions

1
Paryaya Darbar - a formal assembly of saints, scholars, and dignitaries.
2
Pura Pravesha - the ceremonial entry of the incoming Swamiji into Udupi.
3
Kanakana Kindi Darshana - initial prayers offered to Lord Krishna through the window.
4
Transfer of the historic Akshaya Patra (inexhaustible vessel) and temple keys.
5
Grand cultural processions and late-night Teppotsava (floating festival) in Madhwa Sarovara.

Spiritual Significance

The Paryaya is a unique system of rotation and governance in religious history, representing peace, co-existence, and spiritual discipline. The entire city of Udupi is illuminated, turning into a spiritual wonderland.
